It wasn’t until 2015 when I met my husband—a military physician and founder of Brainspan—that my wellness journey truly began. While we traveled the U.S., my husband educated doctors on the critical role of essential fatty acids, I listened, learned, and started questioning everything I thought I knew about health. The more I absorbed, the more I realized that wellness isn’t just about what we put on our plates—it’s about how we nourish our minds, balance our hormones, and align our inner and outer worlds.
The Science Behind True Wellness
Through our travels, I was exposed to cutting-edge research on brain health, longevity, and the power of nutrition. I watched as my husband rigorously tested supplements, some for over a year, to determine their efficacy. In today’s world, where food quality is declining, supplementation isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. But here’s the truth: no supplement will work if your foundational nutrition isn’t addressed first.
Fascinated by the intersection of science and holistic health, I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2019, a turning point that reshaped my understanding of the body’s intricate balance. This knowledge didn’t just stay theoretical—I lived it. I became my own best client, refining my approach to food, movement, and mindset.
Unraveling the Connection Between Food and Mood
The phrase "you are what you eat" is more than a wellness cliché—it’s a biological reality. By 2021, my passion for nutrition deepened, leading me to Stanford’s Nutrition Science program, where I gained a profound understanding of how macronutrients fuel the body and influence mental health. I dove into clinical research, uncovering how deficiencies in essential nutrients contribute to anxiety, sleep disturbances, and chronic fatigue.
But something was still missing.
Balancing Hormones, Healing the Mind, and the Power of Kindness
In 2022, I returned to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, this time specializing in Hormonal Health. As I studied the intricate dance between estrogen, cortisol, and insulin, I began to understand why so many women—myself included—struggle with mood swings, stress, and energy crashes. Wellness isn’t just about eating greens and taking supplements; it’s about syncing with our bodies' natural rhythms.
At the same time, I embarked on another transformative practice: Transcendental Meditation (TM). For years, I battled anxiety about the future, overwhelmed by the constant pressure to have it all figured out. TM became my anchor, teaching me that true wellness isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence.
As I grew more aligned within, I realized something profound: What I’ve learned is this: glowing skin, sustainable energy, and a calm mind are the ultimate luxuries—ones we all deserve.
The Art of Living Well
Looking back, my journey has been anything but linear. It’s been a process of unlearning societal expectations and embracing a holistic, intuitive approach to well-being. Through nutrition, movement, mindfulness, and acts of kindness, I’ve discovered that true wellness isn’t about restriction—it’s about nourishment.
And now, I invite you to step into this journey with me. Wellness isn’t a destination; it’s a daily practice of honoring your body, mind, and soul—and extending that care to others. When you embrace this, balance becomes effortless, confidence becomes second nature, and your entire life transforms from the inside out.
